Japan Self Defense Forces advertise on Mixi

July 10th, 2008 by James

The Self Defense Forces want to find a few good men and women through advertisements on Mixi, Japan’s most popular social networking site.

The banner ad uses the slogan “Make peace your job,” and features the Defense Ministry’s globe-hugging logo. Can you feel the pacifism?

[hat tip to Darin]

It’s not surprising. I’m actually surprised that they haven’t done that earlier (or have they?). Well c’mon, nearly all branches of the US military advertise/recruit on social networking sites like myspace.

That slogan is kind of funny though.

I think the logo can be misinterpreted, but SDF should def. be allowed to recruit there.
