The G8 summit in Hokkaido is drawing to a close. Here is a summary of the dangerous attacks that occurred in Japan during the summit:

A high alert at a Tokyo subway station last night:

At least 20 policemen and six fire engines, along with chemical weapons experts, rushed to the subway station near major hotels and government offices in the Japanese capital after a security guard found the objects just outside a ticket gate, said Tatsuya Edakubo, a spokesman for subway operator Tokyo Metro Company.

But after close examination the liquid inside the bottle turned out to be detergent, and the can contained only soap _ both accidentally left behind by a janitor at the station, Edakubo said.

The area was closed off for about 30 minutes during the evening rush hour, he said.

And an idiot arrested for “joking” about having dynamite on an airplane:

The incident occurred at around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday when the aircraft was parked at New Chitose Airport waiting for departure, local police said.

Deto told a cabin attendant on Hokkaido International Airlines (Air Do) Flight 20 bound for Haneda Airport in Tokyo that he had a stick of dynamite as he was placing a paper bag into an overhead compartment, according to investigators.

All of the 214 passengers and crewmembers were evacuated and police officers searched the cabin but found no explosive.

In a few days the ultra-high security should hopefully wind down and passengers might actually be able to use the trashcans and coin lockers in train stations…
