Japan’s latest crime wave?
AP reports that there are thieves in Yamanashi and they are stealing some very valuable merchandise. What valuable merchandise, you might ask? Peaches. Thats right, peaches.
But these are not just any peaches, as earlier reported on Japan Probe, fruit that is specially boxed and purchased for gifts can be rather pricey, almost to the point of the ridiculous. These peaches known as “bride peaches”, or “hanayome” can retail for up to $80 a piece and so it appears that the gang could be looking to steal a big batch and sell them through legitimate stores.
