Okay. I’ll keep my eyes open, but then I have never been to a major purikara area and only very rarely those game centres that have one or two.

The no-stealing idea is stupid. Girls steal as much as guys.

The signs are there to prevent thieves from stealing your bag while you are taking your pictures and also to prevent people from taking panty shots from under the booth sheet.
Basically these no-male rules are to give teenage girls a bit more security when taking the pictures, and as others have said, they are fairly common. Usually if you see a huge area of multiple purikura booths, it is going to have restricted entry. If it’s only one or two, it’s usually ok to enter.

If you really wanted I could take a picture of such a sign in Hankyu Umeda Chayamachi exit area, B1. At least I think there’s such a sign there, and it’s hardly a sleasy area.

IIRC, I read a couple of years back (probably in Wai-Wai) that some girls go in and flash their tits.

It’s a general rule for Purikura areas that men can’t enter, or at least, not without a woman. When I went to Japan last year, I heard it from my hostbrother. I was really surprised as I had never heard of such a weird rule.
This guy is funny btw XD Especially with the Korirakkuma and the weird pose XD

I’ve seen signs like that before. It may have been back in the day when I was a student in Nagoya, possibly the same place sod went. I believe the rule exists to make all the girls who go there and take pictures feel safe that no sleazy guys will hang out around the purikura booths and try to nanpa them…

place in sakae nagoya has a sign saying cute girls only and a guy stands there to make sure you don’t come in. it is fun to go up and look as you can see the ‘oh god i have to speak english’ look come up on his face.

Huh. Everywhere I’m dragged to take these blasted pictures there are signs up clearly indicating that a female is necessary for entry to the machine area. Boys are a no-go. I guess he has a wing girl who helps him gain access and then stands around bored while he takes his photos and cutens them up with the little decorator pen afterward.
