This way you can immediately see how much your ticket really costs. Just like adding consumer taxes etc. to all other consumer goods is obligatory in Europe and in Japan. The whole thing is a damned gouge as airlines want to fool the public into thinking they're a lot less than they actually are. It can add over 50% to the ticket price.
