I agree. If anything, it should be the opponents of Manchester United who sing “Park Ji Seong ate my dog.” That would be more accurate.

Also, I think that perhaps dog food is probably better tasting that normal British food.

Seven percent is too high, but I guess 0.05% or so of Japanese has ever tried dog food.

When I was a high school student, I saw on the street one of my friend coming from the opposite direction. He was eating something in a plastic bag. When we get closer, I was astonished to find that he was eating dog food. He told me that he went to buy dog food for his pet. He was so hungry that he could not help picking up the food on his way home. He gave me one but I didn’t dare to eat it.

Although I have never eaten dog food, I have eaten shika-senbei (deer food sold in Nara Park) when I was a high school student. It was like tasteless cardboard.

Of course, the telegraph should have read the full article, but I blame “What Japan thinks” for the stupid title – which doesn’t necessarily make sense even if you continue reading until the part where it says 7.1% Japanese feed their dogs human food. Sure, WJT is probably getting a bunch of hits for this – which I suppose was the purpose of the “funny title”, but you’ve also succeeded in spreading yet another stupid stereotype about Japan.

It never was a staple either. In every country in the world meat was a luxury until very recently.

The commentary on this is as wonderfully inaccurate as the thing about ALL Muslims drive like this.

Maybe I should stick to entertainment; anything about the wider world is way off the mark lately.

Scotland, and the Glasgow area in particular, is well-known for deep-frying just about anything! We work hard to retain our status as the heart attack capital of Europe.

Oh, and the Japanese blogs have got bonkers on this story. I’m getting a serious flood of visits from two or three BBSes right now.

Perhaps I should write a clearer note at the top of the story to point out that it’s all nonsense?

Sounds like the reporter at the Telegraph completely missed the point of the title of the blog post. It was a joke based on the answer to question 2 in the survey, where 7% answered that they feed dogs the same food humans eat. What Japan Thinks often has these joke titles.
