Expensive Restaurant Chain Served Leftovers

Twenty years without getting caught:
OSAKA–The main restaurant of scandal-hit upmarket chain Senba Kitcho, located in the city’s Chuo Ward, has been serving leftovers to customers almost on a daily basis for more than 20 years, sources close to the restaurant said.
The restaurant’s head chef admitted at a press conference on Friday that the restaurant had been using the leftovers of six dishes, such as sweetfish broiled with salt, since five or six years ago.
But the sources said the restaurant had actually been reusing a wider range of food items, including broiled fish and beef that had been left untouched by customers, by cooking them again and serving them sometimes in boxed meals.
They also falsely labeled expiration dates and ingredients on many of their products.
Note: Individual dinners at this restaurant often exceeded $300.

waste not, want not but this is taking it too far. to pay for an expensive meal and it had already been served….how many times i wonder? just how many customers were these foodstuffs put before until the restaurant felt they were unfit for consumption?

I can’t believe this is news. Jesus christ. Do these people have any idea of the shit that places in America gets away with? My cousin’s fiance used to ejaculate in milkshakes at the diner he worked at. Even above the individual level, and at a more managerial level, there is widespread corner cutting in disgusting ways, which many of the employees are aware of. Maybe big news in Japan, but they don’t hold a candle to the “standards” we have here in America.

Once again, someone with a hard on for America.
Let’s always turn the finger back to them when a Japanese does something wrong.
I’m sure no one paid $800 for a jizz milkshake. There is no excuse for a resturant this high up to be serving left-overs when people pay this kind of money to eat there.
Let’s also ignore any stories about some of the disgusting shit that has happens in the food industry Japan.

this is just a few malpractices. Even with this , japan is still a very strict and safe place in terms of food. When you go to other countries , waiters spit on your food if they get angry at you and there’s even a factory that used cat and rat meat in replacement to the “canned pork luncheon”.
Well knowing the japanese lifestyle expect the manager/owner to commit suicide

This isn’t just some restaurant you get your burgers at for a quick bite, it’s a high-class sort of restaurant. Customers are more aware of the standards here when they eat, because they want to eat GOOD food, not just a salad and a cheeseburger. If you get bad rep here, you’re going to lose customers for life, because one dissatisfaction can turn away your best patrons. That means a loss of hundreds or thousands of dollars, which isn’t good for the business. McDonalds regulars don’t care about scandals, guys and girls with loaded pockets do.

at my friends old restaurant, he would serve ham sandwiches to the Lebanese man who owned the building it was in. and he would be clueless as to the fact he was eating pork.

This is the most disgusting thing I heard about of Japan. In Canada, restaurants give away food left-over prepared but not served for a given day to homeless shelters or soup kitchens. Here they are at one of the most prestigious restaurants serving customers’ left-over. What a bunch of cheapskates! They are finished.

i ve wondered about this with the generous side dishes served in korean resturaunts in korea. most people dont eat all and often leave a few dishes completely untouched. it would be all too easy and must help to spread a lot of contagions around.

Have you ever heard of Chop-Suey? It’s the Chinese equivalent of the American “Casserole” or “Galosh”. It’s called LEFT OVERS. Nothing wrong with that!!
