Japanese Protesters Attacked By Pro-Chinese Mob In Malaysia

A Japanese family attempted to protest against the Olympic torch relay in Malaysia today:

A Japanese man and wife and their young son were taken into protective custody by local police after staging a brief pro-Tibet protest Monday prior to the start of the Kuala Lumpur leg of the Olympic torch relay, according to witnesses and police.

The trio yelled “Free Tibet!” and attempted to wave a Tibetan flag at Independence Square in the Malaysia capital, where the first runner was due to set off, according to the witnesses.

They were jostled by many Chinese attending the event before being taken into custody by police for “documentation purposes,” according to the police.

According to a report I just saw on N-H-K, the family’s protest attempt was cut short when a mob of patriotic Chinese surrounded them, hitting them and shouting. Judging from the footage shown by N-H-K, the Malaysian police’s decision to take the family into custody may have prevented the situation from escalating into something worse.

Protesting by yourself in a place where something like 40% of the country has Chinese ancestors wasn’t the smartest move, but still the people that attacked them are ridiculous.

Correction: Malaysia only has less than 25% Chinese, and many of these people aren’t exactly pro-China. Many Chinese here actually dislike the PRC (owing to lost jobs due to outsourcing and the social problems caused by the Chinese immigrants).

Besides, most of the people who attacked the Japanese family are from CHINA, NOT LOCAL MALAYSIAN CHINESE.

Sorry to digress, but if the Malaysian police can halt opposition leaders from doing a peaceful rally, why not STOP RABID PRCs WHO PRETEND TO BE “STUDENTS” FROM RIOTING HERE IN KUALA LUMPUR???

Does anyone else find it strange that there are so many “bizarro protesters” running around right now? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a global pro-Nationalist movement before. It’s one thing to protest against a government, but it seems strange to have people rallying for a government – especially when they’re not actually in the country they are supporting.

Only in China. They feel that anyone criticizing the Govt is wrong for they have been brainwashed into thinking that the PRC Govt is always right. PRCs have a very strong nationalistic mindset. Be wary.

Actually this pro-CCP set has been around for a long time. They have been on Myspace and other social sites for a long time. Surprisingly many are Chinese-Americans/Canadians who seem to feel as though they are helping the motherland by shoving pro-CCP propaganda down peoples throats.

The interesting thing to know as well is that many of these people’s talking points are very similar. Do a random survey of Pro-CCP posts on digg, facebook and myspace. You will see exactly what I mean.

What annoys me is that these individuals have always had the freedom of speech that they enjoy in the West, yet they stand up for a government that puts its own do-gooders in jail for subversion.

What I find most curious is that by actively protesting against Free Tibet protesters, they are effectively doing more harm to their message than good.
I personally haven’t spent enough time studying the Tibet issue either way to make an educated opinion on it, but seeing protesters beat up by pro-Nationalist protesters makes me mad. Essentially they’ve tainted my image of China more so than had they just let the Free Tibet protests continue without issue.

I’m replying to my own comment, but I found an interesting article on time.com that talks about how China is currently trying to stop protests by its own people because they are afraid that it might lead to future action action against the government.

I think that’s what brainwashing does to people. Not knowingly, I think we are bringing more bombs into the North America which can be triggered by Fu Jintao at will when we take in more immigrants from China. That’s the “Trojan Horse” made in China. It’s said that China also have thousands of their feelers in each country. Even just recently, FBI caught four Chinese espionage cases.

You are absolutely correct. An entire family of “Chinese-Americans” were recently successfully prosecuted in Federal Court in Los Angeles for espionage. Basically, they were caught smuggling classified documents belonging to the US Navy and used by a defense contractor in their luggage as they flew from LA to Hong Kong. Apparently, they did this on several occasions since some of the family members were employed at the defense contractor. I think that the head of the family, the main spy, received a sentence of close to 25 years in a Federal prison.

It is amazing that people in the US Government don’t seem to see what is going here. The PRC Government is actively attempting to steal any and all classified documents as it relates to the defense industry. In a large sense, US companies are possibly giving away these secrets, so they can line their pockets even further.

It is interesting to note that Japan has had a few slip ups in regards to possible Chinese espionage. For example, whatever became of the JASDF officer who decided to take classified documents about the F-22 home after work one day? The Chinese connection in this case was that the officer’s wife was ethnic Chinese (if I remember correctly). I’m not saying his wife was a spy, but it does look suspicious.

Also, when the Chinese Navy paid a visit to Yokosuka last year, it was reported that the Chinese sailors were originally scheduled to take a tour of one of the JMSDFs state-of-the-art Aegis Cruisers, built by the US. Fortunately, the itnerary was changed at the last minute. I wonder who made the goof about that?

The former Chinese Embassy official defected in Australia was claiming Chinese students studying there and local Chines student associations are funded and controlled by the Chinese embassies. So, it isn’t a big surprise to see well orchestrated protests in Europe, North America or anywhere.

I agree. I haven’t been keen on last a few Olympics because of all corruption on the part of IOC officials. This one has just become of anything other than the Olympics. One good thing about this one is that it helped Chinese betray their true color.

Free Tibet? Why they bother to do it in Olympic only? Do it openly, everyday, anywhere. Why a bloody stupid japanese defending Tibet? WHy want to help other countries while destroy it before? Japanese is funny, i wonder are they feel threaten? Should be, if not they wont be doing anything. I never saw so stupid japanese before, even i met many in Malaysia. If chinese protester able to protest in Xinjiang, why not in Tibet. If you like to see tat, shout it while in China. Why here? Coward??? Same as all the protesters?
