Hundreds Gather For ‘Free Tibet’ March In Nagoya

    A ‘Free Tibet’ march was held in downtown Nagoya on Saturday. According to an OhMyNews article, about 500 people participated, many of them drawn to the event through internet sites such as 2-channel and Mixi.

    The Japan leg of the Olympic torch relay will take place in Nagano this Saturday (April 26). Will it also draw hundreds of protesters?

    Update: An article in the Sankei Shinbun reports that a Chinese organization is planning to gather 2000 Chinese students and bus them into Nagano to act as pro-PRC cheerleaders during the relay.

    The Japan chapter of Students For A Free Tibet is also organizing a Nagano protest, as well as a protest tomorrow in front of the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo. For more details, check out their English language homepage.
