And yet Japan condones the kidnapping of hundreds of children born to international couples in blatant violation of the custody rulings of foreign courts. If Japan was really serious about preventing the crime of international kidnapping they’d sign the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction like all the other G7 nations.

Yet another attempt to make the North Koreans look bad…

I remember a couple years back they found the body of a woman buried close to a high school in Japan after the care-taker of the school turned himself in after 30 years. He had repeatedly raped her an then killed her. At the time in the 1970′s she was added to the “list” of kidnapped Japanese citizens. Turns out she was a victim of JAPAN’S society, not Korea’s.

Futhermore, this orginal list was probed by several Japanese magazine weeklies and found to have flaws, or extra people added to the list !!

Seems like a the investigative journalism is out the window nowadays…. it’s all about making N.Korea look as bad as possible , and I sure the orders aree coming straight from Washington D.C….

There was a documentary done a few years ago about this same event. It’s called “Abduction: The Megumi Yokata story.” I think it was done by a couple of Americans.

Seems the Japanese government has learned a PR lesson… Use your most popular cultural export to spread awareness of an issue that so far only Japanese people care about, clever!

Reminds of the “Manhwa” (Korean manga) about Comfort women I saw in a Paris bookstore. Kind of ironic that they would use a cultural form invented in Japan to “fight” Japan.

I gather that it was – or at least its government, and it’s very common to refer to the actions of a government by the country’s name. “Japan resumes whaling,” etc.

Doesn’t that sound like, the whole country was in on the abduction?
