New Keisei Skyliner

Keisei Electric Railways have unveiled a new design for their Skyliner:

The new Skyliner will begin service between Ueno Station and Narita Airport in 2010. With a top speed of 160 km/hour, it will cut the current Skyliner travel time between the airport and Nippori Station by about 15 minutes.

Cut the trip to Nippori by 15 min? Fuck that. I want to BE at Nippori in 15 min. Regular Tokaido shinkansen goes a lot faster than this. wtf.

Try taking the Shinkansen to Narita. Mind you, 36 minutes to Tokyo isn’t bad.

Top speed of 160 is a bit of a let down.

160 kph is THE fastest speed of Japanese non-Shinkansen line. But you could say that very fact is a bit of a let down.

Anything is better than that JR Next train with its small windows and dark red and black interior. It always makes me kind of sick riding it.

For sure the skyliner needs to be updated. I am glad to hear about this. I am not glad that the prices will go up though.

I’ll probably still take the local Keisei for the cheaper ￥1000 fare.
