A Great Prank: “You got nailed!” LOL |
Not only do the piranha injuries look fake, it doesn’t look like any Japanese variety show I’ve ever seen. The captions are nothing like captions on real shows (and they don’t caption almost EVERYTHING on real shows either). It’s a total fake.

Not to mention the “audience” cheering the “victims” on isn’t even able to speak proper Japanese: “Piko piko dess! Piko piko dess!”

Haha, yeah, I did notice that.
I wonder how many YouTube commenters fell for it…*rolls eyes*

Unfortunately, probably all too many, and now we’ll have the peanut gallery out there regaling their friends with “there’s this TV show from Japan, and…”

This reminds me of something…once on YouTube, a video that claimed to be a “Japanese insurance commercial” was popular. However, when I viewed it I knew it is far too long to be a real CM, it didn’t have a narrator or anything, it didn’t have any text on the screen except for the (English) tagline on the screen, and the URL on the last frame took me to the official site of the movie “Tsubakiyama-kachou no Nanokakan”. Turns out it was a viral marketing video made to promote the movie, and it had nothing to do with insurance. But the YouTube doinks didn’t realize this, of course…-_-

That is SO fake!
The girl seems ‘too’ japanese, the editing is like an MTV commercial, the 3d illustrative graphics are too well done, and the text and picture boxes look swish and flashy!
Fail!

One of the ‘tarento’ shown chanting “piko piko dess!” sure looks like Bobby Lee, of MadTV.
Even if it’s not him, it’s still fake.

The actors and other “victims” are not very convincing and some are relying on the awful over-gesturing-to-convey-your-message acting you see with so many amateurs (think of high school plays).
The rapid-paced cutting and clean framing also points to either a) there being several cameramen hidden in the background b) there being one or two EXTREMELY skilled cameramen capturing all the motion in the background or c) the event was staged.
Sorry, I’m oversimplifying. Just felt like adding more to the conversation than “it’s fake.” This whole thing does not look “Japanese” in any way.

The rapid edits and lack of dialogue are quite telling. Japanese variety shows from what I’ve seen are actually much slower paced than this. Probably because a lot of shows I’ve seen usually have some sort of verbal comedy before the task at hand. I actually felt kinda dizzy watching this…

Yeah, it’s probably Made In China….
And, aside from the fact that the URL is obviously a company selling stuff, real piranha just don’t behave like that.

SOOO fake….even if we assume real piranhas act like that, when the people take their arm out, it’s bloody, yet the water isnt red. Alsot, when they showed the close up of that one guy’s arm and the water did turn red, when they zoomed out, the water wasnt red anymore…hmmm…

Yeah it is fake. But the people in the studio watching thinks it’s real. It’s the next step in asian entertainment. Like american wrestling.

If it were real, the water in the tank would get bloody. It never does.

The blood is uniform across everyone’s “injured” arm. It’s obviously some kind of styled elbow length glove or something.
