Tokyo’s newest mass transit line opened to the public today:
The Nippori-Toneri Liner is a automated guideway transit (AGT) line that will cut the rush hour travel time between Nippori and Minumadai-Shinsui-Kōen from 60 minutes to a mere 20 minutes. For more details on where it stops and what the heck an AGT line is, check out Wikipedia’s informative entry on this topic.

Haha, Ishihara looks every so pleased with himself. Like a little boy who just got exactly what he wanted.

Japanese in Japan seem to be always in a hurry. Don’t they have enough transit in Japan?

People in Japan may not see the obvious benefit, and mumble and complain of the high cost of transit, of unnecessary development, but those in the rest of the world are green with envy after spending their best years of their life stuck in massive traffic jams, choking on air pollution. Come to LA, Bangkok, or Beijing and you soon you will LOVE Japan for their forward thinking.
