Got bad pollen allergies? Maybe you should consider wearing a burqa:

SHINTO, Gunma — A retailer here has started selling Islam-inspired veils aimed at preventing pollen from giving people hay fever.

Ai Kobayashi, the proprietor of the Chikyu-ya store in Shinto, started making and selling the 100 percent silk hoods, inspired by the burqa veils worn by many women in Islamic countries.

“I wanted to have a fashionable approach to fighting off pollen,” said Kobayashi, who suffers from hay fever brought about by cedar pollen herself.

Protective hoods like the one in the above photo are being sold for a little under $30. It is also recommended that users also wear protective goggles.

Yeah, besides, it’s only one store selling them.

It is common for people in Japan to wear a mask when they have a cold or allergy, so a veil isn’t that too far off, but I also doubt that this will catch on.

Its time you understand that its not a burqa she is intending to wear and its not being forced upon here in japan. The thread is about a whole burqa type face mask that would protect your sorry …. from getting pollen into your system.

Personnaly, I think that a simple mask would do the trick, just cover the mouth and nose, like the ones the construction guys use or even what doctors use, I don’t know if they are truly worth it, but seems like they do.
If it were for the burqa type face mask, I suggest it should be somewhat different from the islamic burqa, thus keeping kids like you from saying such stuff.

It sort of falls in line with the straw hats with curtain like sun guards and the long gloves some ladies wear when driving or working outside. A bit strange but oh so Japanese……
