The newest cherry blossom forecasts are predicting that sakura will start blooming in Tokyo as early as Sunday. Here’s a map showing the latest predictions:

For more up-to-date information about the status of cherry blossoms throughout Japan, check out Cabletown.tv, a Japanese site that combines recent photographs of cherry trees with a Google map display.

Unrelated note: I will be away for the next few days, so there won’t be any breaking news posts or link box updates during that period. However, I have prepared a few interesting posts each day that will auto-post in my absence.

The sooner they bloom, the sooner hay fever season will be over.

I wonder why they bloom sooner this year, can it be the global warming (xD) or could the O-hanami people having a lucky strike?

I would love to go and see the Sakura in Japan this year, I guess it have to wait for the next. T_T

It looks like by the time I arrive in Japan the first of April, they should be in full bloom in Tochigi prefecture. But, it worries me that they already blooming in an area that looks to be 20 miles south of where I am going to be at.

I hate global warming.
It keeps messing with our plants.
And this means that we’ll have a greater pest population because all of the internal clocks will be thrown off, ugh!
