Japanese comedians impersonated Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama yesterday at the Tokyo premiere of the political thriller Vantage Point:
An improvement over the rubber gaijin nose crap, don’t you think?

Interesting how Americans could care less about who’s running for Japanese offices, but Japan is all over American candidates.
The Hillary is scarier looking than the original IMO.
Barack is almost spot-on. lol.
Why is Japan all over American candidates? >.>
This Barack looks a whole lot better than that other one.
It’s not only Japan who is all over US candidates. I was in India earlier this month and pretty much every Indian I talked to loved them some Obama!
This US election is international news even more than they usually are!
The group’s name is Newspaper from memory.
Hillary’s actions – the “forced” smile, overly large hand movements were spot on.
They do do the rubber nose thing…when they impersonate Koizumi or Abe (http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=LWLR2_VB6rE)
The US election process is great drama, unfolding over months or years of bitching and back-biting beyond anything seen on a soap opera, is driven by the juggernaut of the US media, and lets other democracies feel smug about being able to run an entire campaign in less time than it takes US candidates to agree on lectern height for debates, to paraphrase Dave Barry.
One reason this election is so interesting too, aside from the fact that there will be no more Bush, is that for the very first time ever there is a good chance that the US might get a black or female president.
Much better than last time, but still – What’s with impersonations? How are they funny? I’m just not finding the humor in any of it.
B-b-but… HOW DO I CRY RACISM NOW? Drat, I’ll just have to find some other story where the poor, poor “gaijin” are being persecuted against.
US presidental race is big news because the atrocities carried out by the previous US presidents has affected more or less the whole world.
OK, we take back the Internet, and formally apologize for Paris Hilton.
Please surrender your TV, telephone, car, life-saving medicines, and your DVD of Fahrenheit 911 as you leave the Hypocrisy Zone.
Thank the German Karl Benz for the car. Ford just mass-produced it. Television: John Logie Bard, a Scotsman. Medicines are invented in various countries (the original inoculations from France, thanks to Louis Pasteur, plus the Brit Kenner who noticed how cowpox prevented smallpox). America does get the telephone, thanks to Alexander Graham Bell, and the Internet, thanks to the govt/military.
It must also be noted that virtually no major invention sprung fully formed from the head of Zeus, as it were.
lol…check the poster behind Obama in the last picture…conspiracy???
I dunno, I see more of Tiger Woods than Obama in that impression, but that’s just because I’ve watched too much golf lately.
Boy, they love the Blackface, don’t they? I see that on various shows in Japan, the last one I saw was some idiot in
Blackface trying to impersonate MC Hammer.
Paul Mooney was right. *smh*

America is the focus of attention quite frequently. As for this election, I’ve had random Japanese people stopping me on the street asking me if it’ll be Obama or Clinton in an abrupt way (even during a date on Valentines). I don’t care to get into a political debate with a random stranger on the street when it we’re debating stuff taking place in another country (not Japan) and for these parodies, I don’t think I it’s that amusing, but hey… knock yourself out I guess.
I don’t find the impressionist very funny .
Quite a few Japanese who quiz me on this seem to not even know about the Republicans and/or McCain, they actually think it’s almost over and one of these 2 is going to be president. Media reports I’ve seen about Obama-nia seem to at least mention McCain as an aside at the end, if they get around to it.
I guess it’s just more fun (than dressing up as a white male) to Japanese comedians to wear makeup and look black, or dress as a woman?
All the attention is basically racist… “Look! Look! He’s black!”
I don’t care what color he is, I just want to know what his plans for the country are, and again the Japanese media tends to come up short on reporting their actual views (although the lack of specifics might be Obama’s fault)
Is this superficial issue (he’s black, she’s a woman) the ONLY way to get the Japanese population “interested” in politics?
Yeah comedians should portray it because all both of them are is one big JOKE.
I wonder what the candidates think about this, if they’ve even seen it.
Level3 “OK, we take back the Internet, and formally apologize for Paris Hilton. Please surrender your TV, telephone, car, life-saving medicines, and your DVD of Fahrenheit 911 as you leave the Hypocrisy Zone.”
I could not care less who who invented the various products but as Overthinker stated most are not American however that is not the point. The point is the reason why US presidental election race is big news is due to the atrocities which previous US presidents have committed does affect the whole world.
Some examples. Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Sudan, El Savador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Chile, Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Vietnam.
It seems to be a part of American politics to go to random countries and kill people. Even IF an American invented TV which really interests me very little as I would never today buy an American TV this does not change the fact that most US presidents are terrorists for killing innocent people.
