Shokotan Apologizes For Statements About Aegis Destroyer Incident
Tokyograph has reported that the Shoko Nakagawa (Shokotan) has drawn criticism for remarks she made about the two men who were in a fishing boat sunk by an MSDF Aegis destroyer:
During a discussion on TBS’ live program “Sunday Japon,” Nakagawa lamented the loss of the two men, referring to them as if they were dead. However, she corrected herself at the end of the show, saying that she had gotten too emotional and that she hopes the men return alive. She later repeated her apology on her blog.
A Nikkan Sports article states that TBS staff spoke to Shokotan during a commercial break, pointing out that her comments could be seen as rude/insensitive, so she decided to apologize for the statements.
The video clip of her statements/apology I have embedded in this post is the most-viewed video on YouTube Japan today. Many of the most up-voted Japanese comments on the video seem to be supportive of Shokotan.
The two men who were on the fishing boat when it was sunk nearly a weak ago remain unaccounted for, and are almost certainly not alive.
