Softbank Offers Huge Discount to Zainichi Koreans
Occidentalism has a posted about something that is causing a bit of annoyance among 2-channelers: Softbank Mobile is apparently offering an incredible discount on its monthly fees and calling rates to all members of the Korean Residents Union in Japan (Mindan).
The following pricing deal comes from a Softbank advertisement that ran in Mindan’s newspaper:
According to Occidentalism, the ad was posted on the internet, which led some to call Softbank and complain about what they see as discrimination favoring a single ethnic group. Softbank responded by saying that a local sales agent is independently offering the plan, and that Softbank did not officially endorse the offered rates. The newspaper advertisement for the special rate has been pulled at Softbank’s request, but the agent in question is still allowing customers to sign up for the discounted plan.
