Pictures/Video: Praying Dog

Are dogs capable of prayer? Probably not, but one chihuahua in Okinawa is capable of joining his front paws together is a prayer-like position, which is newsworthy:

The dog shown is Conan, a eighteen month old long haired chihuahua that hangs out at the Shuri Kannon-do Temple in Naha City. According to the above video news report, it only took a priest at the temple two days to teach little Conan how to pray.

This isn’t particularly surprising, particularly since they trained it to do this.

A lot of members of my buddhist sect report that their cats and dogs sit down beside them when they pray at their altar. And they’ve done nothing to train them.

I love that dog. Very smart. Did the priest taught him or did he copy by him self?

The dog is smarter. It doesn’t believe in gods.

It’s probably just begging for treats ^_^. Seriously though, if a dog sees its owner do the same thing every single day, then it’ll eventually try to copy their actions. Still, it’s cute.
