Kumi Koda’s Rotten Brain

Pop Star Kumi Koda has found herself in trouble after making some idiotic statements about women over 35 having “rotten” fluid in their wombs:

Speaking on a popular radio programme, Koda said that her newlywed manager should have children soon for the sake of the mother’s amnion, the part of the womb that protects an embryo.

“Mothers’ amnion fluid is rotten once they turn around 35,” she said. “I mean it. It gets dirty.”

The soundbite was reproduced on Internet sites along with furious postings. Some sites listed companies sponsoring her, urging consumers to complain.

The campaign to contact companies that use Kumi Koda in their advertisements resulted in some successes, with Kirin beverages and a cosmetics company pulling ad campaigns. Her record label has also canceled its promotional activities of her new album (cover art below), but Tokyo Graph reports that the decision hasn’t seriously hurt sales:

Despite the negative press, Koda’s newly-released album “Kingdom” managed to take #1 on the charts for its initial week.

The last person to be talking about rotten things is Koda Kumi. Everything about her is rotten. One of the least talented singers in Japan right now.

Think about it this way,

I get hurt every time I see her on the TV with those scary nails. 2 less ad campaigns means I’ll not see her a few more places.

I can certainly understand why people would be offended at her remark, especially women in their 30s. It may seem over-the-top to suspend her for a month but it’s just not right to make such “jokes” towards half your fanbase, and I could also see why several companies stopped letting her appear in commercials – I mean, if you were a 35-year-old woman or older, would you really want to buy something being promoted by some doink who thinks your womb’s rotten?

That “joke” is the sort of thing that ends up on sites like Etiquette Hell.

How did I know that people would use this opportunity to take cheap shots at her singing ability. :rollseyes.

I guess things like that are a big deal in Japan, if so than she should have known better and shouldn’t have said it. Thus, an apology is certainly in order. However, personally, I don’t see the big deal, but then again, I’m not Japanese nor a female.

I like Koda kumi only because she’s different from the chipmunk jpop singers out there but, the one thing I don’t like about her is her nasty strange dance moves in her videos.

As much as I don’t like Koda Kumi’s music, she has some support for her claim. The risks of having a baby with Down Syndrome or autism increase as a woman ages.

Does this woman even know what amniotic fluid is? The amniotic sac (and fluid) doesn’t even exist until it grows from the fertilised egg!

I hate it when people in the public light try to spread fictitious heresay and lies.

She’s a singer, she’s not supposed to have an opinion or things to say. Leave that to politicians and experts etc.
