I think it's a little bit exagerated. I'm not quite a Soeharto fanboy, but to put things in a lot of Indonesians' perspective, live were much easier (especially for the poor) in his era. Sure he has his own 'democracy' style, which will jail and/or vanished some radical oposition or ppls that didn't agree with him, but on the other end, that's provide quite a stability needed for country development. His faults that leaded to his downfall were that he couldn't control his cronies (which corrupt), and he believed IMF (which causes one of the biggest banks robbery in the history of human kind). After Soeharto, we had 4 presidents, but live is also harder for the poor (things are more more expensive). Dictator? I think it’s a little bit exagerated.
