So my cat, like most cats love to scratch. The good thing is that she only claws up this one couch in my house. Of course it is my favorite couch.
So I'm up one night watching info-mercial and this one in particular caught my attention. It was about a cat board called Emery cat. The pitch was "cats and file their own claws while they play. I thought to myself whatever. A couple of day went by and my cat Clea really gave my couch a really good lashing this time. So I went on the internet to this Emery cat product. I had some really good reviews so I decided to buy one.
As soon as it arrived at my house I put it right next to my couch. I was still apprehensive, but deep inside I hopped it will work. Cleo is VERY cautious about anything new in the house. She will hide for hours until she's ready to investigate. To my surprise she went right over and started playing with this feather type thing they have on the base board, and then she started clawing away on it. I could hear she claws being filed. The board came with cat nip so I added it and she comes back for more and more.
Finally, no more of my cat Clea clawing up my couch. This board is pretty cool. If you want to check it out for yourself go to Catboard.

Just a small observation. Catnip and matatabi comes from different plants. The video reffers to matatabi (that is the common herb used in Japan instead of catnip).

Matabi cames from the Silver Vine plant (Actinidia polygama) and the catnip from the Nepeta cataria.

Wikipedia:
"Catnip and catmints are mainly known for the behavioral effects they have on cats, particularly domestics." - The experiment was made with matatabi.

Anyway... maybe is better to test by ourselves, we just need about 3 cats, 3 lions and catnip ;) (
I suggest 3 of each because not all cats reacts to catnip, is a hereditary condition).
