Osaka Police Use 2,240 Officers & 460 Patrol Cars to Catch One Car
How the Osaka police put taxpayers’ money to work:
Police on Thursday arrested a wanted man after a two-hour car chase that involved 2,240 officers, 460 police cars and one helicopter. Hirofumi Fukuda, 27, who had been wanted for assaulting police officers on Jan 21, was arrested after a chase through central Osaka. Around 11 a.m., police received an emergency call saying that a car was driving recklessly, ignoring traffic lights. When a patrol car approached the vehicle in question, it took off.
Police were mobilized throughout the area and a helicopter called in. The chase ended when Fukuda’s car crashed into a bridge column. He sustained light injuries but no one else was injured in the chase.

Forget cars. How many does it take to catch Tatsuya Ichihashi?
Who cares?
Well, I do, and I imagine the family of Lindsay Hawker might too. That’s two entities that might still consider murder an arrest-worthy offense. I’d wager that others still care, too.
Damn striaght about that jerk.
If he had “assaulted a police officer” he’d have been found, confessed, and jailed already.
As for cops being over-zealous in chasing those who actually assault cops, that’s a world-wide phenomenon, it’s natural…
But in Japan, where the cops basically don’t really help ANYONE or do ANYTHING, it is particularly disgusting that the only thing to get them off their asses and actually catch someone, is that they themselves were the “victims”. Pathetic.
Well, if this was a bike rider the police were chasing. He would have been in prison 2 minutes after starting the chase.
And in the end they didn’t even manage to STOP him – he rammed himself into a barrier.
So who was going to help the obasans carry their bags of rice?
In Holliwood don´t use more actors to your films
he probably gave up and just crashed into the bridge….
If there were Two to chase how many Police Officer will that take?
There’s precedent for this: the Blues Brothers.
