The show producers and writer of the comedy program are not aware of what the f-word mean. Sometimes Japanese make fun of them self in a strange way.
I think this is only half-correct. I think they just don’t understand the weight of negativity that the word carries. They can’t “feel” the word. It’s a novelty.
yeah- exactly right.
Like I know curse words in French, Italian, Spanish, German, etc., but I don’t really know those languages so they’re just funny to me. Even words in Japanese don’t seem so harsh and I’m fluent (yes, there is bad language in Japanese btw). It’s not that you don’t understand them, when it’s not your language they just don’t carry the same weight.
Yeah. I don’t think that many Japanese know that the f-word in English is considered so vulgar that it is bleeped on the TV channels of English-speaking countries.
Yes and ?
like
Thats absolutely brilliant!!!
I want that shirt.
what does the last word say? Dirty?
Amazing… up there with the ‘I’m gonna waste u m*****f****r’ gangster rap that a lot of clothes shops seem to have blaring out in Japan. And yet, I once saw a subtitled English language programme in which the word ‘bitch’ was continually bleeped out… the programme was about dog training.
Only in japan.
I watched “Alien vs. Predator” yesterday on Japanese TV in English, and it was quite pleasant that “bad” words were not bleeped out.
I like the guy’s shirt!
Whoa! That’s crazy. I tend to hear swear words now and then on TV too.
