Butt Biting Genesis

January 20th, 2008 by Claytonian

No, this is not part of our “Japanese Trends, the Bible, and you” series; that will recompense as usual next Sunday.

Nonsequitors based on bad jokes that occur to me while looking at my own article title aside, what this is really about is an interview with the creators of the Oshiri Kajiri Mushi, who happen to be a husband-wife creative team. PingMag has the full, translated interview here.

So how did you come to create the “Bottom Biting Bug?”

I and my wife, Delvi always say silly jokes to each other. As Delvi was washing dishes in the kitchen, I happened to notice her bottom sticking out and joked “Don’t stick out your bottom, or you’ll have it bitten by a “Bottom Biting Bug!” (laugh) That’s where it all came from.

Cool insights into a trend that many love (or hate) with a passion, as well as the cartooning process in general, can be found, so a read is recommended.

It just made it’s major motion picture debut in the movie Cloverfield. Raw as is raw.
