I’m actually kind of surprised that Japan doesn’t go for Apple products more than they do, given the cultural emphasis on ergonomics and otherwise efficient use of space.

That said, the MacBook Air is pretty awesome-cool.

I don’t think too many people own computers in Japan as compared to the ’states, but the people who do definitely go for Mac over PC.

You got that story this morning but missed the 260,000 yen or so Gundam box set? Or are you saving that story up for later?

I’m not very fond of Apple products to begin with – but… no optical drive? One USB port? No Ethernet port?! This one takes the cake!

who uses ethernet on their laptops anymore? it is a hefty price… but you’re not paying for hte goodies, but you’re paying for the engineering.

the only time i use ethernet… is when i can’t get access to a wirless connect and instead plug directly into a router, which is pretty rare.

“who uses ethernet on their laptops anymore? ”

I do. My work office does not have wireless (many still don’t in Japan) and several airports such as Singapore offer ethernet free of charge but not wireless.
