Lucky Horseshoes in Hokkaido

January 16th, 2008 by James

Students are flocking to the Hokkaido town of Obihiro to buy lucky winter horseshoes worn by the Ban’ei race horses:

The shoes are a huge hit because the large draft hoses that wear the shoes don’t slip, and those looking to pass tests or find new jobs are looking for sure footing in their ventures. Sets that include a shoe worn by that day’s winning horse and the autograph of the winning jockey sell for about $30.
