ostrich meat

A pet ostrich met an unfortunate end in Osaka the other day:

NEYAGAWA, Osaka — One of two ostriches that escaped from their cage here died after being hit by a car on a national highway here, police said.

At around 2:20 p.m. on Friday, prefectural police received an emergency call from a resident in Neyagawa, reporting that there were ostriches running around on Route 1.

One of them died after being hit by a car on the highway, while another was caught by a local resident by the time officers arrived.
