Japan Photo of the Week: Christmas Lolita Girls

In case you missed it earlier, Lolita is how Japanese refer to what is commonly referred to as Gothic in the states. The most famous place to see this Japanese subculture is in Harajuku on Sundays. These girls are taking a break from their usual costumes to wish you a Merry Christmas.

It is a little early, but since I only post once a week, Merry Christmas to those that celebrate it and Happy Holidays to the rest of us who don’t.

Hm is christmas lolita really the correct term? I see the christmas part, but I don’t see any “gothic lolita” over them. Sure, they have black bags, but is that really enough to call them gothic?

sorry, maybe i got my terms confused. anyway these same girls i have often seen in the same place in Harajuku doing the whole Goth-Loli thing or whatever you want to call it.

Goth and Lolita are completely different, and these girls might do that other times, but these are just 2000¥ Santa costumes from donki. I busted one of these out at the 7/11 tonight. You didn’t take my photo!
