Japanese Government Spokesman: UFOs Definitely Real

Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura may not be able to give well-articulated comments on Japan’s whaling policy, but he sure can deliver when it comes to important issues:
Yes, UFOs do exist, Japan’s top government spokesman said on Tuesday.
The comment by chief cabinet secretary Nobutaka Machimura drew laughter from reporters at his regular briefing on government policy.
Earlier the cabinet, responding to an opposition lawmaker’s question, issued a statement saying it could not confirm any cases of unidentified flying objects.
“This is an issue that the nation is interested in — it is a defence issue and a confirmation operation needs to take place,” Ryuji Yamane, a lawmaker from the main opposition Democratic Party who submitted the question to the cabinet, told Reuters.
“But the government does not even try to collect information necessary for the confirmation.”
Machimura, asked about the government’s view on UFOs at a regular press conference, told reporters that the government can only offer a stereotyped response.
“Personally, I definitely believe they exist,” he said, apparently tongue in cheek.
But the prime minister stuck to the official view.
“I have yet to confirm (that UFOs exist),” Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda told reporters later in the day.

I KNEW IT!
Of course ufo’s exist. This poll question should be more qualified and specific asking ‘do you believe UFO’s are extra-terrestrial life forms from another planet investigating/surveying Earth and it’s ‘primitive’ yet sentient occupants, one of many which are on the galactic charts.
Yeah, what he said.
I am following you Beware
I voted no, but I want to make my reason clear. I’m assuming that the poll is asking whether or not I believe that alien spacecraft is currently visiting earth from some other planet. This I voted no too.
I do however fully believe that aliens exist, and that they likely have some form of flying objects.
I also believe that there a re man made unidentified flying objects (not necessarily flying saucers though)
The poll is far to general and can be taken in an number of ways. I’d suggest narrowing it down a little if you were looking for a more specific response James.
I just realized David said almost 100% the same thing! Sorry! Didn’t read his comment before posting! (I’ll blame it on me just waking up and being groggy.)
The Japanese government spokesman literally says he believes “UFOs exist.” In such a case he probably means the common definition of UFOs as a unknown flying object assumed to be of extraterrestrial origin, rather than the literal meaning of the acronym.
In making the poll I figured most people would interpret “UFO” as it is most commonly used, since it’s an established fact that there are often flying objects that cannot be identified or explained.
You’re right James, so in that case I voted the way I would have with that being the case. I’ll blame my over analysis once again on the just woken up thing.
I think it was pretty clear, so voted a big fat NO, despite agreeing with David and Karisu that (a) there are things we as individuals cannot immediately identity in the sky, and (b) that in the entire universe, to think we are alone, defies statistical probability. Who knows what is out there. But as Arthur C Clarke said we may meet apes or angels, but never men….
This explains the giant monsters and the robot flying armor.
It’s all falling into place…
I voted yes, but without taking account the controversy regarding life in the universe. UFO is not unknown flying object. UFO is Unidentified Flying Object. I think it is important to realise that the keyword is unidentified, although it is similar to the word unknown, they hold precise difference when said.
Basically, the military has on its radars ways of identifying any object. There are codes on the radars which when bounced off an object and retrieved, identify an aircraft through a list of aircraft with numerical numbers. I forgot what the letters and numbers are, but it is this that keeps you from getting shot down by a battleship when your in a passenger plane as its code differs from military planes.(If you have heard about plane incidents, there is one occurence where a us battleship shot down a passenger plane because its radar detected a mig an a nearby airport and identified the passenger plane as a bomber and therefore shot it down).
Understanding the radar system helps you comprehend the word unidentified as it is not listed in the radars systems.
As of UFO’s. I personnaly think these UFO’s sitings are real and not to be contested with, but i do not think that these are extraterrestrial life forms in them. As you all know, advancements in technology have given many countries reasons to spy on others. Japan is probably the leading country in robotics and the us in military equipment. I think these UFO’s are ways for the military to spy on other contries without having anything to do with them. Causing a hype around extraterrestrial life forms gets peoples minds off the fact the it could simply be a spy plane from another country. If you all know the hype around Area-51, you would understand that testing facilities in the U.S are known to test such spacecrafts and again, personnaly speaking, i think its a technologically advanced country spying on Japan.
Sorry for the long post.
