Russian Boy from Northern Territories Treated at Japanese Hospital

It’s good to know that territorial disputes aren’t getting in the way of providing medical assistance to those who need it:
A 2-year-old Russian boy who was admitted to a hospital here after sustaining serious burns on Kunashiri Island, one of the islands in the Northern Territories claimed by Japan, left the hospital on Friday.
The boy, Ryzhov Nikita Andreevich, had been rushed to the Hokkaido city of Nemuro for emergency treatment in October after suffering serious burns to both his hands and other parts of his body. He was subsequently taken to the Sapporo Medical University Hospital in Sapporo and underwent medical treatment there.
As he left the hospital with his 29-year-old mother on Friday, hospital employees applauded them and gave him gifts.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude,” said the boy’s mother, Kychuk Natal’ja Yur’evna.
