As one of the thousands, I’d like to say thanks for the encouragement.

Wishing everyone “shiawase”.

Took level 2 today; thanks. Shoulda done level 1 but I completely lacked any motivation to study the past several months. It all works out in the end.

I just came back from the 三級試験.
The vocabulary was a breeze, but from the listening comprehension it got dooooown. Now it’s waiting time for February/March.

I understand Level One is needed for private (私費)entry to universities: do levels 4 to 2 have any significance?

Prestige and from level 2 on as a serious argument why your japanese skills are good enough to work in a japanese company.

Level 1 is worth having. Level 2 is less useful. And any level lower than 2 is worthless except as a sign of personal progress.

Level 1 you need for a lot of translation jobs, and possibly any other jobs where you’d be required to communicate with your co-workers in Japanese.

Level 2 you need for admission to a lot of 専門学校, which would help you get a job where you need Level 1.

Level 3 and 4 you need only to make you feel good about yourself.

Yeah, not a bad thing to put on your resume if you’re not ready for Level 1.
