Interested in watching some of Japanese director Akira Kurosawa’s classic films? Several of them, including Rashomon, Ikiru, Sugata Sanshiro, and Stray Dog have fallen into the public domain and are now available for free! You can watch them in their entirety over at Archive.org.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Stray Dog is really underrated in my book.

Love the natural-looking color poster. Mifune looks like he’s wearing one of those biker gang wigs from MechaIke.

These films really deserve to be seen on a big screen, with a good 35mm print. There is incredible lushness in these B&W Kurosawa films that will never be visible in a compressed online video, or even a DVD. You deserve to see these great films at their best.
