Extreme Water Buffalo Racing Challenge
Japanese comedian Daisuke “Festival Man’” Miyagawa, whom you might remember from his fantastic performance at the 2007 Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling, traveled to Indonesia to take on a festival that is arguably more dangerous and dirty: Indonesian water buffalo racing!
This particular water buffalo racing festival is one in which participants ride a plough pulled by two animals through a very muddy field, so things get pretty messy. Here is a clip of Miyagawa being trained by a very friendly local who has offered the Japanese comedian his plough team for the race:
The next clip shows the actual festival races. The grand prize of the races was a color TV, so competition was very fierce:
Miyagawa ends up winning the first two rounds but losing in the final race. He didn’t get the color TV, but he probably had a really fun time!
