Four of the top 20 most-viewed photos on Yahoo! Japan’s news portal today were from coverage of gravure idol Aki Hoshino dressing up to promote the release of Flyboys in Japan.

Will her promotional charms make a success out of a movie that was a box office bust in America?

What exactly are gravure idols? Are they just cheap models who have big jugs and hideous faces? Or they only specialize in promoting regular stuff?

I doubt it.
Do yourselves a favor and skip the movie. It was a bust in the US because it sucked. The acting was awful. the graphics were poor. The dialog and story lines felt contrived. Really a crappy movie.

hmn.. the movie was a bust in america.. and nothin unless a complete makeover can pick it up…

now the move to bring in an idol to promote it is nothing but pure sexual marketing..

i guess the japanese promoters are thinking like this:
airplanes+sexy girls in uniform = sales..

now, if they were to remake this film into anime, i just might watch it..

No. I had never heard of Flyboys, and if it weren’t for the one little poster on the right side of one of the pictures, still wouldn’t know what it was.

I’ll probably recognize Aki Hoshino now, though.
