Gravure Idol Nonami Takizawa in Rural China
A promotional video from a gravure photo shoot held by Japanese idol Nonami Takizawa in rural China:
The story is covered over at Global Voices Online and FG, where I noticed that Chinese bloggers have incorrectly labeled Ms. Takizawa as an AV idol (porn star), when she is in fact nothing more than a gravure idol (swimsuit model). According to CNET Asia, the Chinese netizens upped a the promotional video to a video site, inciting outrage over an immoral “AV girl” polluting China with her photo shoot:
In the 7 short hours this video has been up, it has amassed almost 5,000 comments from mostly outraged Chinese netizens. Some insightful, some downright racist, some just plain old angry.
What Takizawa and her crew were trying to do here, I have no clue. This was a very insensitive thing to do, on so many levels. I certainly hope this is not a case of intentionally creating a controversy as a means of promoting their product. They are definitely getting the attention of Chinese netizens right now, whether they like it or not.

I still don’t see the appeal of paying to see a clothed woman.

And without reading any of the comments, I’ll bet the outrage isn’t over the possible AV-ness of the girl, but her Japaneseness….
She can come do a photo shoot in my village anytime.
I can understand why people would think “exploitation” and all, considering it is strange to go into a rural area and pose nearly nude with poor villagers. However, I did some searching for Japanese gravure and adult actresses on Chinese search engines and geez, I was surprised that they have a huge following in China. Many actually have Chinese fan clubs devoted to them.
A possible source of reconciliation perhaps?
Are you sure there are such followings in RURAL China? From what I see, she like doing this in the more conservative rural areas. Think of the heart attacks she caused.
Pretty much like doing a photoshoot in Amish county and negating that to having fans in US.
NOW i know who this woman is the chinese bbs forums is talking about. Her picture first appeared in the biggest chinese bbs forum named TIANYA.Ppl indeed thought she is a porn star, because she was wearing so a tight bikini. Nice boobs,;-). I was wondering why no man recognised her, giving the fact that china is secretly the biggest consumer of japanese AVs. (@_@)
