I visited China a couple of years ago, and did this exact trail. I should have been worried when it was the only place in China where I had to pay an insurance fee as part of the entrance.

It is popular to start around midnight (which I did), and hike up in the dark to see the sunrise at dawn.

The section they are showing above is a small excursion loop from the main trail, so you don’t have to do that part. But it is still crazy.

Ha Japanese TV… “100 deaths a year”, they should have added “and there is a dragon who is waiting for you at the top of the mountain”.
100 deaths a year, that’s a little bit too much for a tourist route, a death every three days. Be realistic.
