Japan Photo of the Week: Tachi Neputa
First I gotta apologize for not posting in so long. I had some personal things going on that caused me to leave Japan for about a month and I didn’t bring my computer with me, so I had no access to my photos. Anyway, everything is OK now (I know you are concerned) and I hope I don’t have to leave you hanging like that again!
Last time I talked about Nebuta Matsuri and mentioned the other similar festivals that go on at the same time. Today I am going to show you Tachi Neputa.
“Tachi” actually means “standing” so instead of the large, wide floats like there are at Nebuta, you can see really tall floats (as you can see comparing them to the silhouettes of the people). They can actually be as tall as 22 meters (72 feet)! If you want to see more photos and information about Tachi Neputa, check out the Japan Photo Guide.
This photograph was taken by Evan Pike. If you would like to see buy or see more photos take a look at the or the gallery.
