I just checked on Kansai Walker’s movie site, and they only have the dubbed version listed for the whole of the Kansai, and looking at the list of cinemas, there’s only one in Osaka and one in Kobe showing it, and just another five or so screens in the rest of Kansai.

The day it is released in theatres in Japan is the day it is released on video pretty much everywhere else in the first world. Why waste your money on an overpriced ticket?

Bad news gets worse: as of today, only two theaters in all of Japan (according to The Simpsons’ JP website) are showing the movie with subtitles. Guess I won’t be going to see it after all. Smooth move, Fox Japan!

I undestand you. I’ve heard the Japanese Simpson in the Season DVDs, and I think they are excellent.

Matt Groening can’t be the mind behind this violations against Voice Acting. He speaks well of the english cast and has classified them as “irreplacable”. When Phil Hartman died, he retired his characters, Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure, out of respect. He is the one you have to contact. Here’s how:

Also, in fanmail.biz you can find the addresses of the other staff and cast members. I recommend writing to Nancy Cartwright (Bart’s Voice Actress)too, she’s a good natured woman. In her website, she gives several advices to aspiring Voice Actors.

wait, so they’re ok with them replacing the original (english) voice actors with new japanese ones, but not ok with new new japanese ones replacing those? are they just scared the new ones will suck?

About the only choice I agree with here is Becky. I think she could probably do a good Lisa. I gotta agree with feitclub about the shemale Akiko Wada being Marge though, I don’t even want to imagine what that would be like. I get sick of he/she/it on TV all the time as it is.

As soon as I got cable here in Japan, I started watching The Simpsons in Japanese (since I had already seen the episodes in English anyway). While no one can replace the original English cast, the Japanese-dub cast is pretty good. Homer sounds especially stupid/angry which works well.

I’m not 100% familiar with the celebrity-dub lineup they’ve picked, but I definitely know what that Akiko Wada “lady” sounds like and “her” voice annoys me to no end.
