Another Cool 3-D Printer

It seems that our last post about a 3-D printer is getting a lot of links and traffic, so why not show you another cool and slightly different 3-D printer? Here’s a clip in it action from FTV’s Mezamashi TV:

I think the last 3D-Printer was capable of more detail.

These are not new… not even rare. I would imagine almost every Uni has one, if not two or more. We used these things 8 years ago to design wings.
What is cool, is the previous one was only $40,000. That’s got to be cheap. I imagine they are still slow, notice the speed-up whenever they print. I would guess that clock took about 4-5 hours.

That clock took a fantastic EIGHT hours to sculpt. Yikes. The fun thing about the first one was that it added colour as well – it was in fact a literal 3D printer, pushing coloured fluids into a medium, rather than a computer-guided sculpting machine.

Infusing color is the easy part. The object is constructed layer by layer. So at the objects’ edges, just lay the appropriate color powder and burn (usually laser) it, there goes your replica.
