Ever eaten a rose before?

The drink in the above commercial, Asatsumi Rose Mineral Water, is marketing itself to women as a sort of health/beauty product. I found the rose-eating in its commercial to be a bit odd, but I have been told that it was a fad a few years back for Japanese women to eat food containing rose. Can anyone confirm this?

Actually, there are several recipes that calls for rose petals. I’m thinking of the “Like Water for Chocolate” book that had a recipe for Cornish Hens with Rose Petals. Pretty yummy. It can also be used as a garnish. And let’s not forget Rose Petal tea. Delicious!

Possibly for the purposes of modifying body odor. This is not uncommon as much of what we eat influences our odor.

There was a product in Japan in the 90s that women could take to make their bowel movements smell less. Maybe this is the ‘organic’ version?

Unless organically grown, fresh cut roses, especially imported ones, are loaded with pesticides. And roses happen to be very difficult to grow organically. Not very smart.

what? you dont drink that rose milk drink by pokka? had it for years and years. It’s yum.

Also here in the middle east there is a lot of foods that use rosewater in them, and i believe an actual drink made out of roses, i guess this means that flavor = smell
