I was with Maggie when she did this. Maggie is an awesome person who speaks Japanese close to fluently. She did this just to have some fun. No way is she just a stupid otaku/gaijin, trust me I saw far too many when I was living in Tokyo.

The way her movements don’t quite sync up sometimes makes me wonder if she was dancing from memory without playing the music. But it looks like she had a lot of fun I’m not sure I would dance amidst those Nara deer, they can get nasty! I suppose as long as she wasn’t holding any crackers she was safe.

It must be frightening to live with such a big stick up your b*tt that you have to make fun of a young women that was just having some fun.

I’m sooooooo tired of all the gaijin cracks. I’ve seen plenty of Japanese tourists make fools of themselves in Germany and the States, but I still took the time to talk with them and have some fun.

Before I even knew what Haruhi was(about a year ago?) I saw these zombies doing it on youtube. They did it like pros, it was amazing.

I get you. It seems that many people who come and study in Japan as college students live in a simlacrum of Japan in which the entire landscape–and with it the country’s history and culture–becomes a Disneyland that is only there for the fulfillment of their childish fantasies. While I thought the video was silly and I’m sure some Japanese otaku have done the same thing I’m glad I’m no longer in contact with gaijin like that.

Oh definitely. My taste in Japanese pop culture aside, if I judge her performance on its merits alone it still isn’t that good. Its stilted and jerky, not smooth and crisp like something akin to pop lockin’ should be. Good point Lord Kook.

Uh.. I hate to be a hater, but that sucks. Sorry, but I just can’t stand these kind of people. For some reason the worst parts of Japanese pop culture get gobbled up by unimaginative American kids. Ugh. You may flame me when you feel need.
