Japan Probe Featured In The Wilson Quarterly

“Post?”

Post. As in something one places on a blog after hitting the “post” button. I’m hardly claiming that Japan Probe conducted the poll, but I did spend several hours translating and preparing that post. Seeing as no other English language site bothered to share that poll’s results with the world outside of Japan, I decided to post about it. It might not be “original” to you, but to the thousands of people around the world who don’t speak Japanese and/or didn’t watch the television program in question it was worth reading.

It might be bad quality research to cite data some guy posted on a blog in an academic publication, but if they’d stuck to stringent academic standards their readers would have never been able to read about the interesting results of NTV’s survey. The author of the article is careful enough to state that it is the results of a survey conducted by Nippon Television, and not a formal poll.

The WQ was kind enough to inform me via e-mail about their article and send me a print copy of the issue in question. As far as I know they have not placed the article online.

The only source listed in their “Who is Sakamoto?” article is Japan Probe. I didn’t see any magazine mentioned.
