Aussie TV Copies Japanese Human Tetris

July 29th, 2007 by James

It would seem that the creators of the Australian TV show Big Brother 3 are fans of the “human tetris” YouTube clips from Japan’s Tunnels No Minnasan no Okage Deshita, because they’ve produced a crude copy of it:

I’m guessing that they paid for the rights to remake this skit?

Glad you brought this up. Recently a Taiwanese show features a game very similiar to the Japanese Human Tetris. I read up a Taiwan news article on this and it reported that the producer of the show denies copying the Korean(guess the reporter only knew the Korean version) instead saying that he had already used this concept in his earlier shows and he came up with the original idea. The same Taiwanese show had been alleged to copy other ideas before, one of them is the Japanese No Laughing game which I think was featured here before. Anyway it is quite obvious that the Taiwanese rip off these ideas but it just disgusts me when they simply refuse to admit it and gave some crappy explanation. However I believe the Aussie have permission to use the concept as the second Japanese Human Tetris video has a caption on the top right which says that 20 countries have licenses the concept. Below is the Taiwanese show.

Taiwan and other countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and China copied a lot of things from other developed countries. On the other hand, I wish copyright was more enforced in those countries. As for Korea, I know they use a lot of American’s ideas.

This game reminds me of `Its a Knockout` which was popular in Britain way back int the 70`s and early 80`s.

All TV programs from US, UK, Japan, India, Korea, Germany, France and Russia and much more are being copied by Chinese, Aussies, Kiwis, Arabs and much more.

You can’t really say it’s copy, coz it’s good thing sharing ideas is GOOD.

I wouldn’t be surprised the game was franchised. Which is the case already for Big Brother, the weakest link, who wants to be a millionaire, pop idol….

Not only did Australian Tv make a copy of Tunnels No Minnasan no Okage Deshita, so did the Ellen (Degeneres) talk show. Their low quality rip off is called ” Through the wall or take a fall”. Well, I can’t say I’m suprised–hollywood really is just a bunch of cheapskates.
