Rice paddy art

Those of you that receive the JET programme’s [sic] JET Journal may have noticed a strange picture of demons frolicking on top of a rice field. I was looking at it and wondering what the story was just today in fact. Then I came to find out that the art is created by growing different colored strains of rice. In a way, it’s very elaborate pixel art. Pink Tentacle has more details and pics here.

Why the “sic”?
I believe this is a place that does this yearly. There’s somewhere tall you can get the view from (as in this pic) which means they can create these works of art. Although either the photo isn’t taken from high enough, or they got the measurements a bit wrong….
