Model Moe Oshikiri Is Not Romantically Linked To Canadian Man

July 19th, 2007 by James

Update: Jeffrey Rowe has posted here that the Shukan Gendai article was completely false. In addition, Moe Oshikiri was asked about the story and has said it is untrue as well (as shown in the following video clip):

It would be reasonable to say that this story, like most of the celebrity gossip the weekly tabloids, isn’t true.

Original Post:

Yesterday I picked up a copy of the July 14th edition of tabloid magazine Shukan Gendai, which mentions on its cover that popular CanCam model Moe Oshikiri is dating a handsome foreign man. According to their article, the man is Jeffrey Rowe, a model/actor from Canada’s Prince Edward Island. Rowe and Oshikiri met during the filming of an episode of an NHK English learning program , in which Rowe was doing some example English dialogue acting. The tabloid claims that they’ve been seen together at various events, leading them to believe that they might be dating.

In addition to appearing on some Japanese TV programs and commercials, Rowe has appeared in some of the bland short films created by SpinShell TV. According to his website, he’s also a male model. One of his most recent modeling jobs was dressing up as a Spartan for the Tokyo premiere of 300:

Damnit!

I knew I should have gone for her. She seemed like the kind to jump the fence and go for the gaijin. Such a shame it was some Canadian and not me.

hehe

I’m sure their relationship is platonic.

Their relationship wouldn’t last long. A model will face a lot of temptations in his work.

People – I’m Jeffrey Rowe – if you could read Japanese, you’d realize the article is a complete fabrication. Shukan Gendai is pure gossip.

It’s a damn shame it’s not true. I saw a glimpse of light there for a second :D

Anyways, it was a super-market tabloid, I’m doubt anyone took it too seriously to begin with.

Thanks for this rather incredible non-story.

Rowe seems like the lamest sort of wannabe gaijin talent on the chopping block…

Thanks Corey. I’m actually not looking to become known at all through my acting (I do it because I enjoy the challenge) so couldn’t possibly be on any chopping block. I’m trying to promote Japan internationally and through Japanese people that speak English so that people like you can understand what this country is all about. I obviously upset the wrong person by being ambitious and they decided to try to ruin my attempt at doing this.. Read my blog if you want to follow what I’m doing in terms of film, music and entertainment promotion in the future.

I like that final “mochiron” at the end of her interview. Real meaning: “Me? Dating a gaijin? Are you crazy?”
