3G Network In Hawaii: Japan’s NTT DoCoMo and Atlanta-based AT&T’s wireless unit will work together to build a high-speed mobile network throughout Hawaii, catering to Japanese tourists. [Link]

Imperial Praise: In a first for the Imperial family, part of a speech by Emperor Akihito commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus is published in the prestigious British science journal Nature. [Link]

Imperial Paleontology: Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito visited Mongolia’s Natural History Museum and a paleontology center in Ulan Bator on Thursday and took part in fossil excavation work. [Link]

McStarbucks: McDonald’s Japan said Thursday it will launch 15 McCafe coffee shops in the Tokyo area on August 29, hoping to tap into the country’s growing love of coffee but at lower prices than rivals. [Link]

Bugging Golf: Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) apologized Friday for asking a participant in the Kanto Amateur Golf Championship to allow it to place a microphone on him in a bid to catch the voice of popular teenage golfer Ryo Ishikawa. [Link]

Get A Job, Or Die: The body of a 52-year-old man who withdrew his application for welfare benefits after being instructed by a municipal government official to find a job was discovered Tuesday in Kokura-kita Ward, Kitakyushu, it has been learned. [Link]

Use A Bank: About 10 million yen in cash has been stolen from a chest of drawers at the home of a 65-year-old man in Saitama Prefecture. [Link]

A Warning: Yamanashi police have warned an unemployed man after he threw away 57 10,000-yen notes from pedestrian bridges. [Link]
