TV Report On Japan Expo 8 & French Otaku
Here’s a report from this afternoon’s Real Time News about Japan Expo 8, which was held in Paris last weekend:
The event is dedicated to the appreciation of Japanese culture, but the most popular attractions at the expo were anime/manga-related. A Japanese-style manga cafe was set up in the convention center, fully-stocked with French translations of popular manga and plenty of comfortable seats to read them in. There were also plenty of French cosplayers there, which the Japanese cameras seemed to love. The reporter visited the house of one 30-year-old French “salaryman” who has been cosplaying for years now, and she was quite impressed with his figure collection and hand-made costume. The man wore his costume to the main cosplay event of the expo, and it looked like the audience was entertained.

Most of Euro-american otakus have respect in only Japanese STUFF but they dont in Japanese PERSON. I see in Youtube’ comment that not a few of them is a racist against Japanese.
This is just the same as in case of Impressionism against Ukiyo-e.
