While the “scientific” research is interesting and tempting to buy into (as it’s on TV), I don’t think it explains where all the calories go.
But let me get back to that later; first, they didn’t go into specific details about what kind of “normal” individual they compared her to.
Their ridiculous investigation focuses mainly on the amount of food she is able to take in. So even if she had the capacity to consume large amounts of food, it goes back to what I just said before – that is, where do all the calories go?
The latter part of that segment spent 3 minutes on describing how the increase in body temperature COULD explain how the food is converted to energy. But, please… I don’t think a rise in body temperature from 1 to 3 degrees is gonna do that much when compared against the amount being taken in.

I remain skeptical with this type of over-analyzing done by “experts” in the typical Japanese fasion. Hell, only recently I saw some native Japanese (as opposed to a Japanese with native English skills) “expert” of some sort do an analysis of a letter written by Paris Hilton during her time in the slammer, explaining how retarded she is because of her grammar, handwriting, and how she signed off with an “xoxoxo”. Jesus… She most likely has an extra half-chromosome in the mix, but the arguments don’t necessarily prove it. The grammar just happened to be colloquial (why the hell would she write a formal business-type letter?). This dude’s logic suggests that messy handwriting means that you ain’t smart. I think THAT is retarded.

Anyways, back to the topic. You just gotta look at this Gal Sone’s arms and her face, just like JH commented above. Granted there are naturally slim people all around, she is literally skin and bones. Quite disgusting. And pretty absurd that she is being made famous.
