Gold Bars Worth 6.7 Million Yen Found In Trash
Another story of money/valuables finding their way into the trash:
MIYOSHI, Aichi Prefecture–A discovery at a recycling plant here proves that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Four gold plates worth a total of 6.7 million yen ($54,736) were found among pieces of concrete waste by a 66-year-old male worker.
The plates, all distorted, were reported to a local police station on Tuesday.
One plate weighs 1 kilogram, while the others are 500 grams each, police said.
The worker found two plates around 3:30 p.m. Monday and the remaining two around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday.
The serial numbers and other codes inscribed by producers are visible.
While one plate has retained its shiny golden color, the three others are covered with dust.
Police will keep the plates as lost articles. Ownership of the gold will move to the recycling plant if the plates are not claimed by the owner in six months.
